ABOUT THE ROLE

Position

We are seeking a motivated, experienced and passionate individual to help drive and strengthen Council’s safety culture.

Reporting to Council’s Manager Engineering Works, this position will play a key role in supporting the delivery of essential civil infrastructure projects that benefit our community. As a Work Health and Safety Adviser, you will partner closely with Council's Civil Construction teams and corporate WHS team, providing practical WHS advice, coaching and support across a diverse range of civil construction, maintenance, drainage and infrastructure projects.

You will work collaboratively with leaders and employees to promote a positive safety culture, ensure legislative compliance, and drive continuous improvement in workplace health and safety outcomes.

To be successful you will bring

  • Behaviour that positively demonstrates Council’s values of creative, accessible, respect, energetic and safe.
  • Certificate IV in Work Health and Safety (or equivalent), or a willingness to obtain.
  • Demonstrated experience in WHS in the construction and maintenance industry, including conducting workplace inspections, investigations and safety audits.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and experience in the development and implementation of WHS policies, procedures, and safe systems of work.
  • Proven sound working knowledge of WHS Act and Regulations and Codes of Practice.
  • Proven communication and relationship-building skills, with the ability to influence and engage employees at all levels.

  • An annual salary range of $87,600 to $100,600 (plus 12% superannuation) dependent on skills, experience and qualifications.
