ABOUT THE ROLE

Position

We are currently seeking a suitably experienced candidate to operate a backhoe to support Council’s civil construction operational teams, with a focus on water and wastewater infrastructure.

The primary responsibility of the position is operating a backhoe, with additional duties including operating other types of machinery and performing a variety of labouring tasks associated with section functions, including pipe laying and construction, repair and maintenance of essential infrastructure.

To be successful you will bring

  • Demonstrated high level competence in the operation of a backhoe in a civil construction and maintenance working environment.
  • Demonstrated understanding of and experience in the construction, maintenance and repair of water and wastewater infrastructure including pipelines, manholes, storage tanks, valve pits and small sewer pump stations.
  • Proven knowledge and ability to use pipe lasers and dumpy levels.
  • Demonstrated experience in and ability to perform a range of physical labouring duties.
  • Demonstrated communication skills, both oral and written.

  • A salary range of $61,300 to $70,300  per annum (plus 12% superannuation) dependent upon skills, experience and qualifications.
