ABOUT THE ROLE

Position

We are looking for an inspiring and results-driven leader to support Council in driving leadership, culture, strategy, and performance based on our corporate values.

The Director Civil Services reports directly to the General Manager and is a key member of Council’s Executive Management Team. The role will lead a team of approximately 150 staff and is focused on providing strategic leadership across all of Council’s civil functions, including roads, stormwater, drainage, floodplain management water and wastewater, resource recovery, infrastructure planning and asset management.

  • Tertiary qualifications in a relevant field complemented by extensive experience.
  • Proven relevant senior leadership experience.
  • Demonstrated success in leading a multidisciplinary team, with a proven track record in the achievement of program delivery.
  • Highly developed leadership and people management skills with the ability to promote and implement change, develop the workforce, and deliver outstanding outcomes through people.
  • Exceptional stakeholder engagement and relationship management skills.
  • A strong track record of working collaboratively with communities to achieve shared outcomes.
  • The ability to represent Council in a variety of forums displaying a high level of professionalism and demonstrating strongly developed interpersonal and oral communication skills in individual, small group, and larger public presentation environments.
  • Advanced project management capabilities, including oversight of complex, multi-stream projects delivered on time and within budget.
  • Demonstrated political acumen and ability to apply legislation, problem solve and provide informed recommendations in a complex work environment.
  • Commitment to excellence in customer service, with a history of delivering high-quality outcomes.

The rewards

This is an executive level position providing a total remuneration package on commencement in the position in the range of $230,000 to $257,000 per annum.
