ABOUT THE ROLE

Position

We are offering a great opportunity for an appropriately qualified, experienced and enthusiastic individual to provide a high level of assistance to the Development Services section in delivering development and building services. The position is responsible for the assessment and determination of development applications, performing inspections of buildings under construction and to provide building certification services to ensure compliance with all statutory requirements.

Your expertise will ensure all developments comply with statutory requirements, contributing to safe, high-quality outcomes for the community.

Council will consider both full time and part time working arrangements, and will discuss further with the preferred candidates and interview stage.

To be successful you will bring

  • Behaviour that positively demonstrates Council’s values of: creative, accessible, respect, energetic and safe.
  • Tertiary qualifications in building surveying.
  • Minimum NSW Fair Trading Accreditation as Building Surveyor restricted (all classes of buildings) (formerly A2).
  • Demonstrated extensive and relevant experience in development control and building surveying.
  • Demonstrated experience in carrying out the following certification work on class 1-10 buildings: a) acting as a Principal Certifier; b) issue Complying Development Certificates, Construction Certificates, and Occupation Certificates under the Environmental Planning and Assessment Act 1979; c) carrying out critical stage inspections.
  • Demonstrated experience in the assessment and determination of development applications.
  • Demonstrated experience in carrying out certification work on swimming pools under the NSW Swimming Pools Act, or as an authorised officer of Council.
  • Demonstrated excellent communication skills, including conflict resolution and the ability to provide technical reports.
  • Proven well developed analytical skills and problem solving skills with a track record of success in providing advice to a diverse internal and external customer base in a courteous and professional manner.
