ABOUT THE ROLE

Position

We are looking for a creative thinking business systems professional to join our Information Services section. Reporting to Council’s Coordinator Business Solutions, this position will develop and maintain strong relationships with Council business units to proactively facilitate change and create and reinforce alignment between technology, business processes and people.  The role will assist with the management and administration of Council’s technology-based business systems and contribute to their future development. 

To be successful you will bring

  • Tertiary qualifications in Business Analysis, Information Technology, Information Systems or a related discipline or demonstrated equivalent industry experience.
  • Proven contemporary business‑analysis expertise, including:
    • eliciting and documenting business requirements using modern techniques (user stories, epics, BPMN, journey mapping, service blueprints).
    • analysing and re‑engineering business processes to deliver quantifiable service, cost or risk improvements.
    • developing options analysis and business cases that integrate financial, regulatory, risk and change‑management considerations.
    • translating requirements into procurement and/or configuration specifications for commercial‑off‑the‑shelf (COTS), SaaS or low‑code platforms.
  • Proven track record delivering projects through at least one of the following approaches: Agile, iterative, hybrid or PRINCE2. Must include hands‑on involvement across the full solution lifecycle – discovery, design, configuration/integration, testing, change adoption, benefits realisation – within an enterprise or government environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to work with relational databases (e.g. MS SQL Server) and modern integration patterns (APIs, web services, ETL).
  • Capability to use tools such as Excel/Power Query, Power BI or similar to interrogate and present data insights to non‑technical stakeholders.
  • Proven advanced written and verbal communication skills, with examples of clear, plain‑English reports, option papers or Council briefings on complex technical matters.
  • Proven track record of facilitating workshops that bring together multidisciplinary teams (IT, operations, finance, vendors, community) to achieve consensus on requirements and priorities.

  • An annual salary range of $93,500 to $107,300 (plus 12% superannuation) dependent upon skills, experience and qualifications.
