ABOUT THE ROLE

Position

Council is currently seeking an enthusiastic and capable individual to join our road maintenance team. 

Reporting to the Supervisor of Road Maintenance, this dynamic position will involve performing a variety of labouring duties essential for the successful completion of various road maintenance and construction projects. You will work as part of a diverse team to maintain the shire’s roads, roadsides, footpaths, cycleways, kerbs and gutters, drainage systems, bridge structures, and other assets within the Engineering Works section.

To be successful you will bring

  • Demonstrated understanding of and/or experience in general maintenance duties associated with roads and roadsides, including concreting and finishing, pipe laying, sign installation and vegetation management.
  • Demonstrated communication skills, both oral and written.
  • Demonstrated ability to operate various items of minor plant and equipment.
  • Demonstrated experience in and ability to perform a range of physical labouring duties.
  • Class C driver licence with the ability to operate manual transmission.
  • Work Safely in the Construction Industry Induction ticket (white card).

The rewards

  • A salary range of $55,800 to $64,000 per annum (plus 11.5% superannuation) dependent upon skills, experience and qualifications.
  • 9 day fortnight working arrangement. Council is currently trialling a range of flexible working options. Full time field staff will have the option to apply to work a compressed four day work week, subject to operational and team based requirements and approval.
