Labour Hire Engagements

Ballina Shire Council occasionally sources temporary staffing needs through a casual labour hire arrangement. Such casual engagements are facilitated through labour hire agencies, Spinifex Recruiting and Nortec. Applications for any of the below casual positions must be made directly with either of these agencies - refer to the 'How to apply' section below. Council is currently seeking to engage the following positions through a casual labour hire arrangement.

COMMUNITY FACILITIES ASSISTANT

Responsible for cleaning council’s community facilities including amenities, sporting courts, meeting rooms, toilets. Position will also provide some concierge/customer service and room set up/pack down support.

Requirements:

  • Alignment with Council’s values – Creative, Accessible, Respect, Energetic, Safe.
  • Driver licence
  • Willingness and ability to undertake cleaning duties of public facilities, including toilets.
  • Physical ability to assist with set up and pack down of furniture
  • Customer Service skills
  • Immunisation against Hep A and B.

CONSTRUCTION OFFICER - CONCRETING

Undertake labouring and concreting duties associated with the construction and maintenance of roads and roadsides (kerb, gutter, footpaths, pits, headwalls, etc).

Requirements:

  • Alignment with Council’s values – Creative, Accessible, Respect, Energetic, Safe.
  • Driver licence.
  • Ability and willingness to undertake labouring duties and take initiative.
  • Experience with formwork and concreting.
  • Experienced concrete finisher (ability to place and finish concrete to a finishing standard through helicoptering and broom, and control the curing process. We also need them to have the ability to free hand finish kerb and guttering, etc.) (desirable only).
  • MR driver licence (desirable only).

HORTICULTURE LABOURER

Responsible for working as part of a team to maintain the shire's open spaces and reserves.

Requirements:

  • Alignment with Council’s values – Creative, Accessible, Respect, Energetic, Safe.
  • Horticulture experience.
  • Current chemical ticket AQF3 preferred, but will consider AQF2.
  • Driver licence.
  • Demonstrated Zero Turn mowing experience (desirable only).
  • Chainsaw ticket (desirable only).
  • LR licence (desirable only).
